My first business was built in the middle of chaos. After my husband’s accident and major surgery of my own, life as we knew it fell apart. I’d been a stay at home mum for 11 years and then suddenly, I was the one holding the family together, with no qualifications, no business background, and no idea how we were going to make ends meet.
Financially the rug had been pulled from under us, we were regularly visiting food banks to feed our daughters. Scraping around the house looking for coins and turning it into a game so the girls didn’t know how bad things were. It was one of the hardest times of my life.
One day, I opened a food parcel from The Trussell Trust and found a sample sized body lotion tucked inside. I used it and for the first time in what felt like forever, I felt human again. That tiny moment of care, when everything else was falling apart, shifted something in me. It made me realise how powerful small acts of kindness and self-care can be. And that’s when I made a promise to myself, that one day, I’d create something that helped others feel seen and special, even if just for a moment.
That’s how my product business was born, rooted in self-care and built from the ground up with resilience, purpose, and lot of late nights. In 2019, I opened my own high street shop, and later scaled the business online and into global wholesale. No business plan, no investors, just heart, passion, and a vision I refused to give up on.
Business was great, I was speaking on stages, winning awards, launching the Yes SHE Can Project podcast, and connecting with powerhouse women across the UK. It was growing so fast.
But in winter 2022, life had other plans. A freak accident left me injured and struggling to keep up with the physical demands of my product business. My health declined rapidly, and with it, so did my mental wellbeing. I began experiencing seizures and was eventually diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). The pressure took its toll, and I hit breaking point.
It forced me to stop, and to reassess. And to ask myself: What actually lights me up? What do I want my life and work to be about?
The answer was clear, empowering women in business. Always has been. Always will be.
So I pivoted. Clients began coming in almost instantly. I sold my product business in late 2023 to focus entirely on what I was lighting me up and fuelling me forward: mentoring women who are ready to step into their power and build businesses on their own terms.
And here's what I know for sure, none of this happens in isolation.
The network of women I’ve met along the way, talented, driven, honest, supportive, they’ve been my lifeline. They reminded me of who I am when I forgot. That’s why The Female Business Mentor isn’t just a business for me. It’s a movement. It’s about creating a space where women feel seen, championed, and never alone in the chaos of entrepreneurship.
I’ve made mistakes (plenty), learned the hard way, and built myself, and my business, back from scratch. And now? I help other women do the same. But faster. With confidence. And with someone in their corner who gets it.
Helping women thrive, in business and in life, isn’t just what I do, it’s who I am.
Since stepping into this next chapter, I’ve had the absolute privilege of mentoring female founders across the UK and beyond. Nothing lights me up more than helping women see what’s truly possible, cut through the noise, and finally believe in their own brilliance. This work is my joy, my purpose, and my mission , and I genuinely feel like I’m living the dream.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck, unsure, or like you’re falling behind. I’ve lived through the doubt, the fear, and the exhaustion. (And I still have my days let me tell you) But, that’s exactly why I show up the way I do, as someone who gets it and knows how to guide you through it.
Now Co-Founder of the domestic abuse organisation Fight Forward CIC, a contributor for Startups Magazine, a mentor for Small Business Britain and Santander, and with my first book The Female Business Blueprint coming out in late 2025, this chapter feels like just the beginning.
If you’re ready for someone in your corner who will hold the vision for you (even when you can’t see it yet), I’m right here. Let's do this together.
